Consent categories
- Necessary is always on. It keeps the website usable, protects requests, and stores your privacy and theme choices.
- Analytics is optional. It measures page use through Google Analytics.
- Advertising measurement is optional. It connects advertising visits with page and conversion events through Google Ads, Meta, Reddit, and OpenAI.
- Support chat is optional. It loads EngageLayer and keeps the chat session state.
Necessary browser storage
- smbf-theme: stores a light or dark colour preference in localStorage. If the key is absent, the page follows the system colour scheme until you choose a theme or clear site data.
- smbf-consent-v1: stores the selected categories, policy version, and choice time in localStorage until you change the choice or clear site data. This record prevents the banner from asking on every page.
After Analytics consent, Google measures page visits and permitted business events. Before that choice, analytics storage remains off. Google can set `_ga` cookies; Google documents a default two-year expiry for the standard identifier, subject to the configured account settings.

Advertising measurement
After Advertising consent, Google, Meta, Reddit, and OpenAI receive page views and named conversion events. Before consent, these advertising integrations do not load or receive events.
Depending on the campaign and provider, advertising storage can include `_gcl_au` or `_gcl_ls` for Google attribution, `_fbp` or `_fbc` for Meta, `_rdt_uuid` for Reddit, and `__oppref` for OpenAI click attribution. Availability and duration vary by provider, browser, account configuration, and campaign. The OpenAI pixel stores the supported `oppref` click identifier in the first-party `__oppref` cookie and does not measure while its consent state is false.

Support chat
After Support chat consent, the site loads EngageLayer using the smbf.me public widget key. It uses session storage with a key beginning `el_anon_` to keep an anonymous conversation session. Conversation content is processed when you open and use the assistant. Disabling Support and reloading the page removes the local session key that the site can identify.
Your choices
The first panel offers Accept all, Necessary only, and individual settings with equal access. “Privacy settings” in the footer lets you change the choice on any page. If you withdraw a category, smbf.me updates the provider consent signals, removes known first-party vendor storage, and reloads without that category. You can also clear storage in the browser. The public pages remain readable with every optional category off.
