Major producer and scheme route

What changes here

Irish packaging rules apply to all producers, with extra duties for a major producer that exceeds 10 tonnes of packaging in a year and has annual turnover above €1 million. Major producers must use an approved body; Repak is the approved packaging scheme. PPWR reporting and cross-border representative duties must be checked separately from that national threshold.

A major producer that exceeds 10 tonnes of packaging in a calendar year and has annual turnover above €1 million must participate in an approved body. Repak is the approved packaging scheme.

  3. 03

Maintain packaging data and declarations under the selected route.

  4. 04

For cross-border direct sales by an EU-established producer, the current PPWR requires an EPR authorised representative in Ireland. Confirm the national appointment and registration process, and separately verify the route for a producer established outside the EU.
